Katie Gregson-Macleod is an indie singer-songwriter from Inverness[3], influenced by Phoebe Bridgers , Julia Jacklin, Lucy Dacus, Matt Maltese, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Elliot Smith[4]. In 2022, she went viral on TikTok with her demo complex, leading to a recording contract with Columbia Records[5].

Artist Biography

Katie comes from Inverness, where she studied at the Inverness Royal Academy, before studying history at Edinburgh University. She played piano and guitar as a child, and started gigging and recording music at the age of 17. Her first gig was at Encore Une Fois in Inverness, and more recently played Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival in both 2021 and 2022. She was named one of BBC Scotland’s 25 Artists To Watch In 2022 by Vic Galloway[6] .

Debut single Still A Sad Song was made Song of the Week by BBC Radio Nan Gàidheal's Rapal[7]. Games I Play from her first E.P was track of the week at BBC Radio Scotland Introducing and on Janice Forsyth's Afternoon show, while second single Second Single Bed received Radio One airplay[8]. The reworking of her viral hit complex was produced by renowned US producer Greg Kurstin[9].
