Artist Biography

In the aftermath of Scott's death, Billy Kennedy ruled out any future for the band: '“No, it doesn’t exist without Scott at all... Scott is Frightened Rabbit.”[3]

In June 2019, the album Tiny Changes was released, seeing artists including Biffy Clyro, The Twilight Sad and Lauren Mayberry cover the entirety of the band's 2008 album, The Midnight Organ Fight. The project had been started by Scott before his death, and he had heard all the tracks, including the prescient Floating in the Forth.

In 2021, the band announced the publication of The Work, a book of writings and illustrations by Scott Hutchison. The book contains handwritten lyrics to all the Frightened Rabbit songs[4].

In January 2022, Grant Hutchison discussed plans to complete a last Frightened Rabbit album using demo versions of songs completed by Scott[5].

In January 2023, a tenth anniversary edition of Pedestrian Verse was announced, for release on 17 March. The album contains all 12 tracks from the original album, plus 11 bonus tracks. A 24 page lyric booklet is included, and special editions contain an 84 page replica of Scott's own lyric book from the recording of the album[6].

Reception

"“Scott’s voice will always be with us. His words will always be with us. I’m not going to stop shouting from the rooftops or screaming from small stages about how amazing he was. I think it’s important that we remember him through the beautiful things that he put into the world.”" - James Graham

In Scottish culture

Frightened Rabbit were an influence on many Scottish bands including We Were Promised Jetpacks, The Twilight Sad and Chvrches[7].

The charity Tiny Changes was established in memory of Scott[8].
