Allan MacDonald
Allan MacDonald is a traditional musician, piper and bagpipe tutor from Moidart now based in Edinburgh. He is a former lecturer at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama, and has presented his thesis on The Relationship between Pibroch and Gaelic Song at the University of Edinburgh[1].
Awards
Allan won the Clasp at the Northern Meeting in 1989 and 1990[2].
In 2021, Allan MacDonald received the Hamish Henderson Services to Traditional Music Award at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards[3].
Family
His brothers Dr Angus MacDonald and Iain MacDonald are also internationally famous pipers. In 2007, the three brother were featured on the BBC Alba programme An Tilleadh[4].
